I Need Help to Learn

The advertisement in the Internet cafe said that they were holding a night every week especially for people who wanted to brush up on their learning skills. They were open to people who had never so much as switched a computer on to those who wanted to learn website design.Although Edith's son had got her on-line and sorted her an internet provider she felt that she had been left behind by technology. She could play solitaire but what she really wanted to do was keep ontouch with her children who had both flown the nest and lived far away. Since her husband had passed away she was feeling lonely but found thatkeeping in touchwas becoming increasingly difficult and expensive. Her Internet provider had sent hera lot of information on how to set up e mail accounts and such she found the instructions hard to follow for someone who had noknowledge at all and the only reason she knew how to type was from the typing lessons that were compulsory when she was at school in typewriting class.

When she arrived for her first lesson at the internet cafeshe was relieved that she was not alone and there were others who were as baffled by computers as she was.The teacher was really friendly and led her through step by step and had her on-line within minutes, giving the class step-by-step instructions on what to do next. Glynis was really enjoying her session and could not wait to get home to practice what she had learned.

When she got home she got herself on-line and was able to understand the Internet provider manual with much more clarity. She was pleased that it had all been explained to her and was proud that the teacher had told her what all the computer jargon meant as well as giving her information to take away. She realised that she could keep in touch with her family with the equipment she already had and learned how to do it from an on-line search engine. within half an hour she had downloaded everything she needed and added her sons details so that she was able to have an online conversation and see her new grandson. She would not be able to see him until next year without learning what she had but this way she could keep in touch without having to pay any extra. The internet cafe had given her so much and she was raring to go for next weeks lesson.

For a granny of 3 she was definitely going to give solitaire a miss from now on, on the world wide web she had the world at her fingertips.
